(Pic from google images)

So this is a horribly belated post. Better late than never right.....?! I took Jerejizzle to Chinadoll for his birthday about 3 weeks ago. We also tried Uber for the first time that night too.

I tried to surprise him by not telling him where we were going, but idiotically slipped up at his family dinner when they asked where I was taking him. I suck at surprises. He didn't care though... Men, eh? Easy to please!

ANYWHO. I thought I'd give Uber a crack. It was surprisingly easy to organise, and our drivers both there and back were really friendly. I wouldn't say it's any cheaper than a taxi though. Sorry 'bout it Uber. I did prefer it because the drivers were more pleasant. And there's no cash or card needed, hello convinience. Cashless all the way I say!

When we arrived at Chinadoll we were seated inside (as requested) and after some menu perusal we decided on the banquet ($59 PP). I thought it might not be enough, but holy cow was I wrong. I. Was. Stuffed. Definitely recommend the banquet! We also ordered dumplings, however they forgot them so we ended up getting them for free! Can never go wrong with a free dumpling.

Dessert! Black rice and sago puddings (yum!!!)

It was wonderful service, with friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again!

I think I've realised everyone has their 'thing'. Like make up, or skin care, or wanting to have a giant collection of nike sneakers. Mine is definitely hair. And more specifically, how to get it as thick and luscious as possible. My hair is fine, but there's lots of it. I have volume at the roots but it gets thin and brittle towards the ends. Which is shit for me, BUT makes my hair perfect for extensions.

After 2 lots of Great Lengths hair extensions I thought I'd never go back to clip ins. I wore them for 4 years before Great Lengths. But I definitely need a break from bonded extensions, and given clip ins are a third (or less) of the price, it's much more economical. And I'm actually enjoying my real hair now because it's finally all one length!

After searching around on the internet, I came across Aussie company Zala, who do triple wefted remy hair extensions of different weights, and ombré colours as well! I snapped up a set of 220g (SO MUCH HAIR), in a subtle ombré shade.

I was worried about blending them in my new shorter 'do, but after watching a really helpful YouTube vid, I gave it a go and had no problems! You get so many tracks in the set that I didn't even need them all to make it blend.

The helpful tutorial:

So good.

S I T U A T I O N A L DRESSING

What I feel a Preggers Kourtney Kardashian x Nicole Richie Bali situation would look like - style wise. Holiday wise I think it would be a mess of hilarious antics and drunkenness (on Nicole's behalf). Has anyone watched Candidly Nicole? It's actually genius. That girl is as dry as anything.

Kourtney and Nicole take Bali

Sigh. One day that damn Antigona will be mine. It haunts me!

So, I've been whipping this slice up, in different variations, for a few weeks now. I found the original recipe somewhere (I think if you google paleo date slice it comes up...) but I've tweaked it quite a bit.

I've done it with almond meal, spelt flour, hazelnut meal, coconut, and buckwheat flour.

The best tasting one was 1 cup hazelnut meal and 1 cup desiccated coconut. Yum.

You will need:

- About 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
- Maple syrup/ stevia/ rice malt syrup to taste
- 1 cup dates, chopped
- 1/2 cup nuts of choice (salted almonds are deeeeeelish, but I've been using pecans lately)
- 1 egg
- 1 cup desiccated coconut/ almond meal/ hazelnut meal
- 1 cup buckwheat/ spelt flour
(Or any combo of those really, they all seem to work out really well!)

Pre heat fan forced oven to 180c. Melt the coconut oil with the syrup/ stevia until well combined. This can be done in the microwave or on the stove.

Add chopped dates and nuts, stir to combine

Add flours/meals/coconut and egg, mix until well combined and you have a sort of dough-batter.

Press into a lined square 20cm x 20cm tin and bake for around 15-20 mins.
It should come out crispy but moist.
It will keep in the fridge for about 5 days to a week.

ENJOY!

J and I are off to Bali in October. Both of us have never been before, and I'll be honest, I never planned in going. It's gotten bad coverage in the media and it was one of those places I thought I'd always avoid. But after seeing Instagram post after Instagram post of people lounging around infinity pools, drinking cocktails, eating amazing fresh food and realising that SO many people go multiple times a year and have an amazing time, I wanted in. Haha.

We decided to stay in Seminyak at IZE. It seems like a good place for Bali first-timers. Plenty of restaurants and not as congested as Kuta. Aaaand the hotel may or may not have a roof top pool. SO keen to relax, I haven't had a proper holiday in almost a year!

( yeaaaaah rooftop pool!)

If anyone has suggestions on things to do, or restaurants that are amazing, please let me know!

Let's talk Smoothies. They are all the rage right now and I am well and truly on that bandwagon. Being able to throw anything in there that's lying around is amazing. And when I realised you could throw spinach and avo in there too!? Yes please. They don't have to be all sweet and that kinda blew my mind. I know, I'm easy to please.

I have been putting Maca powder in my smoothies of late. It has this weird sweet yet bitter taste, and is one of those 'Mayan Super foods' that have been getting around of late.

It is a root, from the radish family. Which weirds me out cuz it definitely don't taste like no radish! Haha. It is rich in vitamins B, C and E. It helps libido (cue wolf whistle), helps balance women's health and mood (yes please! Anything that stabilises moods is ok by me!) and can apparently help with skin blemishes, energy and general overall health.

I've been mixing up this particular Smoothie this week:

Almond milk (preferably organic)
Spinach leaves
Blueberries
Quater of an Avocado
Half a banana
Gentle fibre mix
Stevia
Vanilla extract
Maca powder

Blend, enjoy and feel all those amazing foods doing their thang!

What do you throw in your blender?

So I don't know if it's just me. But it's literally taken me 24 years to discover high lighter. And concealing under your eyes. I only jumped on the primer band wagon 2 years ago, and only started filling in my brows about 18 months ago. Sooooo... I am a total make up novice. Hahaha. I'd like to think that I have at least been matching my foundation colour to my face properly though?! Meep.

I have YouTube to thank for my make up enlightening. Although, it has made me want more and more make up and brushes and creams and products that I totally don't need. Like I mentioned in the last post, I have been obsessively watching Nicole Guerreiro on YouTube. I have been watching Chloe Morello and a few of the other Aussie girls for a few years, and I have learnt a lot from them. But Nicole is amazing. She is always 'real life', which I love. Anyway, here are a few of the products I have purchased lately, as inspired by YouTube beauty gurus!

Australis concealer

This is kinda sticky BUT. I am loving it for under my eyes. It brightens everything up so much. I purposely went with a lighter shade.

Loreal True Match (N4)

After being a Revlon Photoready gal for about 18 months I thought I'd try this after Lauren Curtis raved about it. And funnily enough when I started watching Nicole's vids it turned out she loves it too. It is totally comparable to Photoready and I have no complaints!
- Great coverage
- Long wearing
- Broad colour range

I have to say both Photoready and true match are better than MAC studio fix, which I used to wear. It always went oily on my skin. I love it when drugstore brands are awesome!

Australis face Highlighter in Gold

Like I said, I have only recently discovered high lighter. And high lighting. And illuminating. I like to tap a bit of this on my brow bone and the top of my cheeks. It creates a really nice glowy look.

A little goes a long way!!!

Maybelline Fit Me concealer (25)

I like to use this to cover blemishes and also mix a little of it with the Australis concealer just to make the texture a little less sticky under my eyes. It gives nice coverage and colour. And is cheap cheap cheap. Especially at Chemist Warehouse. Holy crap that place is EVIL. You can easily kiss your life savings goodbye in there.

And last but not least...

Maybelline Age Rewind Primer

LOVE this. I love silicone feeling primers. I had the Too Faced primer and it is comparable to this. Amazing. 2 thumbs up.

What are your beauty must haves? Has anyone else been enlightened by YouTube beauty gurus?
